Anastasia Myskina will play in the Toray Pan Pacific Open

Myskina will play in the Toray Pan Pacific Open, and will most likely be the Number 5 seed. It will be a tough tournament for Myskina since many big names are entered, but we know Nastya can beat anyone on any given day. At the least it will be an amazing opportunity for her to get some added match practice and confidence.

Some players that have committed to this tournament are Lindsay Davenport, Maria Sharapova, Elena Dementieva, Nicole Vaidisova, Ana Ivanovic and Martina Hingis among many other big names. Hopefully, Myskina will get an easier draw in the first few rounds that way she can work her way into the tournament. With a loaded draw, Myskina will need to be in top form throughout the tournament.

Latest news:
Myskina recieves a bye in the first round ot the 2006 Toray Pan Pacific Open. Myskina chose not to play this tournament last year, but will still look forward to taking the title home or at least making a good showing. This being only Myskina's second tournament of the year, she still looks to shake off the rustiness of the off season, and would like to forget about the decisive straight set defeat in the Australian Open to Swiss Patty Schnyder. Myskina's draw definetely worked out in her favor, she can definetely get to the final where she would likely meet the Number 1 seed Sharapova or comeback queen Martina Hingis. But that's a long way ahead and we must start with round 2.
